Mass Media sensationalism Media presents several misconceptions.  An example of this is the higher rate of Anorexia Nervosa among them.  Media established the culture that being thin is likable and beautiful.  The outlook takes away the sense of satisfaction for the teenagers to appreciate their God-given gifts.  If not guided well, attachment to the sensationalism of the media can cause self-destruction rather than self-improvement. Generalization from samples of deviant adolescents Being a Goth is often considered as weird and stereotyped as those who worship Satan and can cause harm to other people.  The surprising fact is that all these are misconceptions and teens who choose this lifestyle can feel a sense of belongingness in the group.  One must not judge someone because of the way he looks.  The real harm is when the person being judges faces emotional abuse. Over emphasis on the biological determination of heterosexual behavior The cause of over emphasizing the heterosexual behavior is making the beliefs lean that sexuality is synonymous to the identity.  Thus, the gays, lesbians and transgender are often discriminated and people forget the fact they are still humans too who need to be respected.

Self-fulfilling prophecy Most people fear the changes that may happen when they become old.  When they reach the age of 50, they feel that they are no longer capable of doing things creating a negative impression on getting old.  They can still have the sense of accomplishment in other aspects, but not like when they were still young.
