HBLT MWGYW Teaching Plans
Both HBLT and MWGYW teaching plans contain positive and negative factors, which could make a certain plan, or approach, more appealing than the other, considering the audience which is being taught. The HBLT approach takes a less personal approach, in regards to the information the instructor gives about themselves to the target audience. Furthermore, the hook, book, look, took approach utilizes a group learning structure, which uses concepts or ideas familiar to the target audience, scripture, self reflection, and the development, over time, for a firm resolve within the lives of non-believers.
Looking at the MWGYW approach, the teaching plan is more personal and provides information about the teacher to the target audience. Using this particular approach, the instructor relates to their target audience. Furthermore, this approach goes on to include the target audience in a theological discussion which relates their personal experiences, to those of the prophets and early Christian fathers and provides points of self reflection. This particular approach is effective when dealing with a target audience which may be somewhat abrasive to the ideas or moral concepts which Christianity portrays, primarily because the instructor relates to their target audience about past experiences or mistakes they have experienced, providing a non-judgmental basis for those within the target audience to share some of their past mistakes with the instructor and fellow members of the target audience.
How the HBLT and MWGYW was used in the Lesson
The HBLT method was used by utilizing the prophecies, parables, signs and symbols to dramatize Gods message to his exiled people. The symbols, signs and parables used within the Old Testament, Ezekiel in particular, have a profound impact on the psyche of the individual within the target audience. Furthermore, this particular learning method focuses on the individuals own personal perspective and views concerning their own internal, fleshly, strengths and weaknesses. This teaching method also hooked the target audience in by relating moral philosophy with moral principle by asking the target audience to explain and analyze what they feel is most important in life, to have a well respected name, or, to have immense wealth.
The MWGYW approach was used within the context of the respective lesson plan by providing the instructors own personal thoughts and experiences to the overall course material. Many non-believers tend to take a position against many Christians on the basis that certain followers are too judgmental, or, overbearing in their pursuit to convert. Using a course of Christian instruction, the target audience begins to relate real life experiences, to those experienced in both the Old and New testaments. The me, we, god, you, we, approach takes the minds of the target audience from relating to personal experiences of the instructor, to, relating personal experiences with one another, then to those of God, and finally back to those of individual themselves and the target audience as a whole.
Strengths and Weaknesses of the HBLT approach
Some of the strengths associated with the HBLT approach include, the group learning approach, were non-believers are grouped with believers in order to facilitate spiritual change within the non believers, and, the use of parables, signs and symbols to hook the audience. The prophecies associated with the Old and New testaments have a profound impact on the reader. These prophecies relate futuristic events to metaphorical signs and symbols experienced within the readers own everyday life. One of the major weaknesses apparent within the learning approach revolves around a lack of personal experience given by the teacher to the target audience.
Strengths and weaknesses of the MWGYW approach
The MWGYW approach is effective primarily because of its ability to associate personal experiences of the instructor, or teacher, with those of the target audience. Many non-believers hold the impression that Christians tend to be over judgmental in regards to personal experiences exhibited. Therefore, by using examples of personal experiences, experienced by the teacher, to relate certain moral philosophies to the target audience, greatly reduces the chance certain new members within the target audience will feel abrasive towards the subject or, lesson being taught. One of the major weaknesses apparent within the MWGYW teaching method revolves around the lack of group interaction between believers and non Believers. This is an important aspect of the HBLT lesson plan.
Which Lesson Structure is most useful
The lesson structure which is most useful, in my own opinion, is the HBTL method. The reason why the HBTL method is so important is because it encourages non-believers and believers to interact with one another, which inevitably leads to many breakthroughs, or, a total reconstruction of the personal lives of non-believers. The fact that many believers were once non-believers plays heavily on the importance of group instruction which has its foundation on pairing believers with non believers. Another important aspect of the HBTL teaching method revolves around the use of prophecy, to influence the target audience to makes changes in their personal lives.
What would change in preparation of the next teaching opportunity
Certain changes which would be made in preparation of the next teaching opportunity include, including the use of more personal, real life experiences within the course of instruction. Furthermore, teaching lessons should include more examples of group interaction between believers and non believers in order to facilitate a greater sense of self responsibility amongst non believers. Believers believe what they do for a reason, and in many instances, these reasons correlate to personal, real life, experiences. If believers are able to share their experiences with non believers, the possibility for profound personal change exists.
Conclusion
In conclusion, both teaching strategies used, HBLT and MWGYW, facilitate critical thinking about scripture within the minds of the target audience. Furthermore, both methods require the target audience to interact, either with one another, or, with the teacher. The HBTL method in particular, has the potential to change the personal beliefs of non believers by anchoring them, or, grouping them, with believers in order to share personal experiences and act as an anchor in the salvation of the souls of non-believers.
