Chapter Summary Prayer and Ambiguity

God created a world in which he has significantly bound himself to the prayers of His people. ( Insert Authors Last Name, Year Published, 126)

In this chapter, the author provided an extensive and in depth discussion about the power, rationale, and principles of prayer for the purpose of helping the readers understand their significant roles in shaping the circumstances and motivate them to become people who pray (p. 126).

The first part dwelt on the power of prayer as Jesus instructed us to pray to His Father and it shall be granted. More specifically, the author presented power of intercessory prayer in the process of salvation and withholding Gods judgment as presented through Moses story and other references drawn from the bible.

The second part stated the different rationales for prayer where God supernatural involvement is dependent from. The author stated the following rationale as such  The need for God-human communication prayer and morally responsible say-so as an essential aspect of our co-reigning with God the urgency and finitude of prayer as a variable for Gods actions in any situation the rationale behind unanswered prayers. (p. 129-133)

The third part presented the following variables that affect the power of our prayer Gods will, the faith of the person being prayed for and the people praying for others, persistence of prayer, the number of people praying, human and angelic free will, the number and strength of spirit agents, and the presence of sin. (p. 135-146)

All these variables are important to help us pray with as much effectiveness as possible and help us understand why some prayers are answered and some are not.

The author concluded the chapter by emphasizing that praying always makes a difference, even if at some point, our understanding is limited because we pray as we live in a sea of ambiguity. (p. 150)
